Sharpening his attack on the BJP and the RSS, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Friday made an appeal to save the land of Gandhi by teaching a befitting lesson to the heirs of Godse, who, he said, are out to destroy the nation and attempting to erase the Mahatma.

“Let us slay communal hatred! Revere the Mahatma! The father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, who fell to the bullets of Godse for demonstrating to the world the power of non-violence and who strived for unity among people to flourish, will live forever in the hearts of every Indian!” the Chief Minister said in his martyr’s day message posted on social media.

Claiming that the heirs of Godse were not only attempting to erase the Mahatma but were out to destroy the nation, he called for united efforts to save the land of Gandhi. Expressing confidence about defeating ‘communal forces’, he said “We will win together.”

Earlier, speaking at an event, Stalin directed his ire at the BJP, accusing the saffron of flogging a dead horse by raking up charges of dynastic politics, for elevating Udhayanidhi Stalin as deputy CM, and corruption against the DMK. “These baseless allegations are part of an old script, spread through WhatsApp University. They have been answered time and again. Anyone is free to enter politics. But, to succeed they have to face the people, earn their trust, and win the election. It is a canard spread by those who could not stand up to us on the ground,” he said.

“Has any allegation of corruption against us been proven,” he asked, seeking to turn the tables on the BJP for teaming up with the AIADMK, which has been convicted of corruption by the Supreme Court. “When you were not in alliance with them, how many allegations have you made against them? Have you now washed them in your washing machine,” he asked, referring to the corruption charges against political leaders that get either buried or slowed down once they switch their loyalties to the BJP.

While making it clear that the upcoming assembly elections are a fight between the DMK and the NDA, he had earlier described it as the continuation of the Aryan Vs Dravidian war.
